A settlement may refer to
- An initial step in the colonization of open lands, or the resulting communities; see hamlet (place) and settler.
- An informal settlement or squatter camp.
- A formal settlement forming part of a town planning scheme.
- A location as used in South Africa
- A settlement (law) is an agreement resolving a dispute.
- The process of swapping the consideration for the deeds, shares, securities, or other financial instrument once the trade, deal, or bargain has been executed; see settlement (finance).
- In the context of an occupied territory, a settlement is a permanent civilian presence protected by a foreign military, such as in Northern Cyprus, the West Bank or Western Sahara. (See also Israeli settlement).
- The Projects as used to refer to housing schemes.
