Richview Collegiate Institute

Richview Collegiate Institute is a high school in Etobicoke, a suburb in the west end of Toronto, Ontario. It is in the Toronto District School Board.

The school was founded in 1958. Richview’s Latin motto, "Monumentum Aere Perennius" means "a monument more lasting than bronze". Its traditional rival is the Etobicoke Collegiate Institute to the south. Richview's current principal is Kim Robinson, and the two vice principals are Katherine Armstrong and Robert Strand. The school is known for its excellent academic courses and about one-third of the students are enrolled in the extensive French Immersion programme. Approximately 90 percent of students pursue post-secondary education.

Students

As of spring, 2004, the total enrolment was 842 — 442 girls and 400 boys. 17% of students spoke English as a second language and over 4% of students had lived in Canada for 5 years or less.

Extra-curricular activities

Richview's sports teams are called the Saints and the school colours are scarlet and gold (except when printed, at which point they are yellow and red.) School teams compete in: badminton, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country running, football, ice hockey, skiing, slo-pitch, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and laser tag.

Football is what Richview is best known for and they are currently the only team to ever win the West Divison title since it has been created. In 2005 they had a dream season where they won a stunning come from hehind victory over their hated rivals ECI plus they won the Toronto Bowl.

Students may also participate in: beginner, intermediate, or senior band, stage/marching band, junior orchestra/symphony, senior strings, choir, Charity Week activities, Fashion Show, and Student Council.
