Matmâta (also spelt Matamata) is a town in Tunisia. The Berber residents lived in caves dug vertically into the ground. It was made famous by the filming of the home of Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen Lars for the Star Wars movies.
By an odd coincidence, the only other Matamata in the world - Matamata in New Zealand - was the site of much of the filming of Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
