- Second Punic War:
- Unable to lift the Roman siege of Capua in the Second Battle of Capua, Hannibal marches on Rome in hope that they will protect the city. This maneuver fails, and Capua surrenders to Rome.
- The Romans capture Saguntum.
- The Carthaginians under Hannibal's brother Hasdrubal defeat the Romans in the Battle of the Upper Baetis, where Publius and Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio die in battle.
- Arsaces II (also known as Artabanus) becomes King of Parthia
